This project requires the replacement of two existing buildings – the Borough Hall and the Police Building- on one site with a new single, combined 2-story building. Construction phasing and sequencing to temporarily relocate the Borough Hall staff during construction and also allow the Police Building to continue full operations during construction of the new building. Police Building will be demolished after construction to allow for new parking lots.
Schiller and Hersh is proud to have been on the design team with Spiezle Architectural Group, which along with the project contractor, Baver, Inc. received the Green Build Award from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), a national construction industry trade association.
The project achieved LEED Silver Certification.
Mechanical Design:4-pipe HVAC system with high efficiancy gas-fired boilers, indoor chiller and outdoor cooling tower. Gas-fired rooftop 100% outside air systems for the cell block section and locker rooms for the Police area. Design also included a non-proprietary HVACDDC Facility Explorer (FX) system by a third party vendor to allow for competition in bidding for maintenance.
Electrical Design:New 5kV utility service for the building, full 600 kW Diesel-fired backup generator for the Borough Hall and Police Building, site lighting & controls, high efficiency flourescant lighting with controls, lighting dimming and control system for the public meeting rooms, fully addressable fire alarm system, CCTV system, card access system, IT structured cabling systems, and fiber optic cabling systems for the incoming and internal building systems.
Plumbing Design:Automatic flush plumbing fixtures, low-flow plumbing fixtures, high efficiency water heater and domestic plumbing systems.
Fire Protection Design:Fully suppressed building, including new fire pump and sprinkler service for the building.
